After YouTube Rewind 2019 fails once again - YouTube admits "We don't know what to fucking do for Rewind 2020"

YouTube Rewind 2019 was uploaded on December 5th, 2019; being the ninth YouTube Rewind created in an annual tradition of yearly recaps on their website, using a mixture of pop culture, celebrities, yearly memes and events to kick off the yearly Rewind.
However, this following year; 2019. There was something very off about this Rewind. As the video starts, the viewers aren't greeted by the typically energetic, lively presence that is usually seen in these previous Rewind videos. Instead; Rewind 2019 starts off with a very dull, lifeless, pessimistic energy. So what's happening here?
If you continue watching, you'll quickly get the idea that this video is an apology-type, seemingly a recovery from some previous failure. Clips of a previous Rewind fast-forward on the screen, followed by text saying "In 2018, we made something you didn't like". Oh, that's right. This is damage-control from a "catasrophic failure" the previous year, AKA YouTube Rewind 2018.

YouTube Rewind 2019
On the 1 year anniversary of the historical disaster of 2018, YouTube came back once again with the much-anticipated YouTube Rewind 2019 on December 6, 2019. This Rewind was titled "For The Record" and very much was a follow-up to their disastrous previous rewind. However, this Rewind wasn't liked either.
Rewind 2019 resembled a Top-10 video style, with very little effort or life put into it. Users immediately started mocking it for its lazy and dull content, coming off very dry and boring. It ended up gaining 8.5 million dislikes - 3 million likes. Which is still a much higher dislike ratio. In that case, Rewind once again fails.
A question I have to ask is, what does YouTube think of this? What's their thoughts about their failed Rewind? And what are their plans for the future?
We caught an interview with a YouTube employee, Brad Rogers; about his thoughts on this failed Rewind
Interview with a YouTube Employee, Brad Rogers

"Yeah, I mean, it's fucking disappointing. With YouTube 2018, we worked so damn hard on it and yet everyone just... hated it. Like.. Imagine if you made a very fancy birthday cake, and you worked on it for months. You give it to the person, and they immediately SPIT IN IT and throw it away. That's how I felt with Rewind 2018".
Rogers angrily explained to us.
"Truth be told, I thought we did a good job on Rewind 2018. We made sure to reference all those stupid memes and trends our dumb children are into these days. That entire segment where we pretended to be all serious and caring about important issues so that we could get approved, I thought that was brilliant. Hell, we even got a few celebrities to be featured in Rewind. What didn't they like?"
Rogers added.
Rogers admitted that the major disliking of Rewind affected his mental health and traumatized him. He developed a drinking problem, severe depression and panic attacks and even in an incident he punched his wife and spat on his kids in a fit of rage over his children calling the rewind "Cringy".
"So, 2019 rolled around and it was time for the next Rewind. We all thought, fuck these smug little pricks. If they don't appreciate our effort, we'll give them what they want; something very safe, squeaky-clean and no effort. One of my fellow employees made the Rewind video in one hour. He got a bit drunk, watched a WatchMojo video and decided 'I have an idea'. Thus Rewind 2019 was born" Rogers added.
"And what do you know? They hated Rewind 2019, (sigh) of course they did. Those little, 13 year old childish cunts on our platform are never satisfied with anyting we make. And of course, that Swedish guy (pewdie something?) made a Rewind much better than ours and it
got so much approval. Fuck this shit, and people wonder what us at YouTube HQ never listen to our community? It's cause they have no respect" Rogers ranted.
| PewDiePie (Felix Kjellberg)'s verison of Rewind was met with tons of praise, much more than the official YouTube version. |
"Yeah, I've acknowledged some of the things these critics have to say about Rewind. They were complaning that we gave no respect to the dead, and started talking about this guy named Erica. I mean, who's Erica? I googled this guy and he was some black streamer who died. I mean, he wasn't a celebrity and he doesn't fit our liberal, family-friendly agenda so we're not adding him in, of course not!
I mean that sucks about his suicide though"
Rogers complained, addressing the
late streamer Etika (1990-2019).
Clearly Brad Rogers was frustrated about the failure of both Rewinds (2018 - 2019)
also in our interview, he expressed anxiety
and stress over the next Rewind, 2020.
"We still have about 11 months until this year ends, but even now we're stressing about what to do for Rewind 2020. Truth be told, We don't know what to fucking do for Rewind 2020. We keep trying to bring it up with Susan (CEO) and she tells us to 'shut the fuck up' and 'worry about that later'. But I mean, we just don't know what to do. Should we give it to that Swedish fuck to make our rewinds from now on? Should we make another big one and risk getting mass-hated for being 'cringy'? should we make another bland top-10 and get hated again? I don't fucking know, I just don't, okay, okay. NO JUST THE FUCK OFF MY ASS ABOUT IT" Rogers yells, smoking a cigarette before throwing a chair and ending the interview.
From what we've learn in this interview, tensions are running high at YouTube HQ; with the employees being both frustrated over the two failed rewinds and stressed out over YouTube Rewind 2020, already.
We'll see what they decide to do in about 11 months, at the end of this year.
